cyclone tracy changed my life

by Jasmina
(wa)

it was a cold and windy day.
we were all told that there was going to be a cyclone called tracy. it was wired how people name a cyclones, but i didnt care.

it killed my family and friends. i was left with no one. i was standing all alone out side with nothing and no one around me. all the houses were broken down and everything was scary.

i guess we were not really prepared for the cyclone. because if we were there will not be as much people hurt.

the rescu team came to save the left over people. i was sent to an orfenig. were i was adopted by a wonderful family.

CYCLONE TRACY CHANGED MY LIFE FOR GOOD. I WILL NEVER SEE MY FAMILY AGAIN, BUT I KNOW THEY ARE STILL IN MY HEART!

We Lost our father In Cyclone Tracy!.
by: Brian Graham

I was a 10 Year old boy when we went thru Cyclone Tracy I will never forget that morning the noise of the wind and the days that followed have never left me!.
Each Christmas is very hard and is only a reminder. We were lucky we were visiting our Dad's family in Darwin for Christmas we were airlifted to Brisbane then flown home to New Zealand to find out days later our Mothers 1st Husband my father was living in Darwin and Drowned in Cyclone Tracy. My Mother & Stepfather Moved back to Darwin in the early 80's and lived in Woodleigh Gardens Leanyer in 1986 I moved to Sydney and several times I went to darwin I was unaware my Father was Buried in the Darwin Cemmetary!. In 2003 I was sent to Darwin for work, with my Uncle Robin's help I tracked down thru the Darwin City Council where my Father Donald Hoff was buried. His name is on the Plaque of all the dead at the Council Chambers. I went to the 30th anniversary in 2004 and plan to attend the 40th in 2014.
I also plan to have the Headstone changed to have mentioned his 3 Children that was never put on. I understand his company had the headstone put on and I feel it does not reflect the true person!. I will have the headstone done tastefully as not to offend the family!.
I understand that young ladies pain and I'm shocked that ignorant people whould put comments about someone's spelling!! That person needs to get a life and wake upto themselves we all deal with grief in our own way!!.

Kind regards,

Brian Graham (originally Brian Hoff)

It must be very difficult having to experience and endure all the after effects of a cyclone. Good luck to you and i am glad you have had lots of support from your family.

to the gronk thats talking about correcting spelling i think that would be the last thing on this persons mind o.k, and to the prick thats saying he';s lived in darwin for 10 years and theres never been cold weather, you actually need a low pressure system and warm temperature in water for it to accure! and for the person that this has happend to that is very tragic and sad i could never imagine what life would be like if i lost everything and to all the people that are leaving bad and mean comments shame on you someone that has gone through this spelling and pricks that dont belive him/her is nothing to him/her soo yer!

Can't imagine it
by: Anonymous

That's tragic. (Even more tragic than the appalling spelling of everyone who has commented.) I lost my brother last year - just one member of the family - and I will never be complete again. I could not imagine losing everyone, and everything. Thank God for the good hearts who took you in.
