Celebrating its sixth year, the wildly popular Australian Burlesque Festival will once again be touring Australia nationwide 11 June – 4 July 2015 and arrives in Darwin with the spectacular “Shake-O-Rama” at the Darwin Entertainment Centre 27 June.

The Australian Burlesque Festival is the biggest celebration of tease in the Southern Hemisphere and brings together the best of national and emerging performers along with renowned international icons never before seen on Australian stages. From the best in classic and glamorous acts to shimmy shakin’ exotic tease and beyond, sparkle and sizzle abounds!

A night of glamorous classic tease and modern neo-burlesque that will dazzle, delight and stimulate all the senses! “Shake-O-Rama” features some of the best and most entertaining internal and local burlesque performers. Celebrate traditional Bump n ‘ Grind, vintage tease, sizzling cabaret and variety entertainment. Jaw-dropping glamour from the leading stars of the burlesque stage!

The ABF 2015 features dazzling headliners Dolores Daiquiri - Co-Founder & Director of the Australian Burlesque Festival (Melbourne), Sina King - “Miss Burlesque Australia 2011” (Melbourne), Strawberry Siren – “Miss Burlesque Australia 2013” (Melbourne,) and
Lila Luxx - “People’s Choice 2014 Australian Burlesque Community Qld” (Brisbane).

Rounding out the headliners scheduled to hit the stage are international glamazons Vicky Butterfly – Award winning Founder & Performer “Black Cabaret” London (UK) and Medianoche - First runner-up award-winner Burlesque Hall of Fame Las Vegas (New York).

Leading international Burlesque Magazine, 21st Century Burlesque Magazine, recently voted the international headliners onto the Worldwide Top 50 Burlesque Performers List in 2014. Dolores Daiquiri, Sina King & The Strawberry Siren were recently voted onto the Top 10 Australian Burlesque Performers List in 2014.

Burlesque show in Darwin - 27th June

Was very disappointed with the Burlesque show in Darwin on 27th June.

Expected good entertainment but was subjected to act after act of women doing nothing other than shimmying around discarding items of clothing.

Lift your game, guys! No event could be distinguished from each other. Not a single male member to provide any gender balance. There are much better ways to hold the audience's attention for 2+ hours. Cobble together a story line with some comedic elements if you must. Have some performances with more than one lone performer on stage.

Very repetitive with no surprises. Worst of all was the host who screamed the place down with a lengthy 20 minute introduction. Carried on with a silly accent and a 5 minute introduction per performer. Boring! Wish I'd given it a miss.
