The Nauiyu Aboriginal Community at the Daly River crossing has a population of around 500 people and has always been an important meeting and ceremonial location for the area. The crossing marks the extent of tidal influences on the river, with the road continuing on to Wadeye (Port Keats)
The Aboriginal art, history and traditional stories of the Kamor people still connect them to their land around the river country.
The Daly River provides some of the best barramundi fishing in Australia and attracts large numbers of amateur anglers all hoping to land spectacular metre long barra.
Although there is no accommodation available in the Nauiyu Community, there are tourist parks offering a full range of accommodation styles in the region.
