The damage is everlasting
by: John White

Sorry for the loss of your dad. I was also 10 when it hit & that alone was bad enough without the extra added stress of your dad passing. Mine died two years later when I was 12 & I’m sure it’s added to PTSD. Take care mate & look after yourself.
Very best wishes, John

You mention that you had a photo of the names of those who lost their lives as a result of Cyclone Tracy - I am researching Malcolm Charles ANDERSON & it is believed that he was lost at sea during the cyclone. Is his name on your list?
I moved to Darwin in 1978 for 3 years & saw the remains of what Cyclone Tracy had done. I lived on Retta Dixon Homes, Bagot Road.

My Recent Trip To Darwin
by: Brian Graham

I have just come back from spending 7 nights in Darwin I was able ti visit my fathers grave in the Darwin General Cemetary in McMillans Road. I took new photo's of the headstone and downloaded them to my laptop and tablet!. I visited the places where we went to in 1974 before Cyclone Tracy and though I have been back many times since then it helps with the healing process. I also went to the darwin City council building and took photo's of the plaque with all the names of those who died in Cyclone Tracy I also saw they have added the names of those who died at sea!.

As I do everytime I come back to Darwin to visit family I always visit the Museum and visit the Cyclone tracy Exhibit and go into the sound room and come out with the memory of the noise of the wind! I cry everytime and @ 48 you may think I'm too old to cry but it is all part of the healing process!.

Darwin is booming all the new building's and the new wharf development it is a credit to darwin's future which I see is a good one!. I will be back in 2014 for the 40th anniversary of Cyclone Tracy if not before as I was visiting an 83 Year old uncle in Stuart Park still living in the same house we went thru Cyclone Tracey in and I realize he may not be around forever!. He lives by a saying which I hold very dear!. Everything Is A matter Of Choice!. I live by that saying daily.

God bless You All.

Headstone
by: Brian Graham

Dear maddy,

I do not use facebook due to privacy reasons my personal email is briangraham27@bigpond.com

I did have a digital photo of my Late Father's headstone taken in 2003 when I was working in Darwin for 2 months in the then Saville Darwin Hotel on the Esplanarde (Now renamed the Mantra). Unfortunately the picture was wiped from my camera!. My Partner & I are thinking of coming upto Darwin this year as I still have an Uncle in Stuart Park!. I hope you are able to send a picture to my personal email?. I did some research on the company my father worked for who put up his headstone they no longer exist!.

Kind regards

Brian Graham
