Lingalonga Festival, Batchelor

The Lingalonga Festival is a community event held on Saturday 3rd August, which is the Picnic Day Long Weekend.
This year Batchelor Town celebrates 60 Years - 1953 to 2013
Batchelor is the Gateway to Litchfield and a beautiful spot for a relax under the trees for the day, stay out for the night and head to the waterfalls for a picnic on Sunday.

Make a Weekend of it...come and stay for the weekend at Batchelor, Lake Bennett, Adelaide River or Litchfield Park.

Tons of "Fun for Free"...... for the kids. Market stalls all day, sport, live music, food stalls, clowns, buskers bower, art and craft workshops, waterslides, traditional weaving workshop with 'Jeannie'.

The festival is annual and is a not for profit community event. It is hugely popular within the rural sector as a "not to be missed date" - relaxing under the trees while chatting with friends as they wander by.
This event is alcohol free and runs from 8am to dark. Please join us "we would love to meet you".

Daily 10am to 4pm Batchelor Museum new World War ll exhibit and other historical displays.
Friday 26th July to Saturday 3rd August is REL Week - Parachutes galore at Batchelor
Weekend of Country Music ; Country Music Muster at the ARSS Club

Friday 2 August
9am Batchelor Area School Special Assembly, displays and Morning Tea
7pm Movies with popcornin the original old movie theatre featuring "Jedda" and others.
saturday 3rd August LingaLonga Festival
9am to 4pm - Lingalonga Festival. (Alcohol & Drug-Free event) comprising: markets galore, art, craft, blacksmithing, cultural workshops, food stalls, free & fun kids activities and magic workshops, live music and dance displays.

Cricket Carnival on the beautiful Batchelor Town Oval like in days gone by... NT cricket are helping coordinate the carnival, bringing umpires and planning a feature match in the morning.

‘Variety NT the Children’s Charity’ will be cruising down in their bash cars and bringing a cricket team along, plus the Classic Car and Motorcycle Clubs will be attending.

PRIZES will be awarded in a Show and Shine along with prizes for the team who win the Cricket Carnival

Night Time
7 – 10pm ‘Nostalgia’ Quiz Night at the Rum Jungle Tavern. Bring plate of food / nibbles to share.
Cash bar. Individuals or groups welcome. Prizes galore. Cost: $5 seniors / $10 others.
6pm BBQ at Rum Jungle Bowls Club followed by Social Lawn Bowls (the ‘oldest’ green in the Top End’)

Sunday 4th August
DAY: 8 – 9.30am Breakfast ($5/head) at Historic Retreat / followed by 10am Combined Church Service.
NIGHT: 6pm – midnight 60th Reunion “Dinner Dance” at Batchelor Resort with the ‘George and Garry Duo’ playing old time favourites and rock and roll, reminiscent of times gone by. Prizes for ‘Best Dressed’ in 50’s gear. Bring the family & teach the kids how to jive and rock around the clock...
2 course dinner, cash bar. Limited seating. Adults:$35 / Children: $16.50
