The good old days are gone.

Was in Darwin 1964/1965. Probably the best 2 years of my life. My wife was also in Darwin in 1965 but fortunately we never met until we were in PNG. Worked at the CDW site and lived in the CDW dongas where I met a great bunch of workers.
When I first arrived in Darwin I was working at the meat works installing all of the mechanical equipment and went to CDW when the work was finished. Fortunate to have played Rugby League with Frank Geddes as our awesome coach then during the wet played for Nightcliff AFL club again with an awesome coach.
Just got back after 54 years and the old spirit of Darwin has been destroyed and the city is much the same as any southern suburb.
